Spring Time is Cleansing Time

by Doris Deits

Technically speaking, spring is officially here even if the weather patterns aren’t fully in spring mode yet.  One of the significant aspects of this time of year is that our bodies are shifting from a hibernation mode to a more active and energized mode – hence ‘spring fever’ – everyone is ready to be out and about.  It’s important to remember that the body needs to cleanse and purge itself at this time of transition.  Many of us get a cold during this time of year.  A cold is considered by many to be the body’s way of purging toxins, a process of cleansing the body of built up ‘stuff.’

There are simple ways we can help our bodies to purge and hopefully avoid the need for a ‘cold’ purge.  Some people like to go on a juice fast for a few days, others will opt for eating lighter foods for a few weeks in an attempt to cleanse or rest the digestive system.  Lemon is excellent for cleansing the body – adding several glasses of lemon water to your daily routine is an easy way to support the body’s need for cleansing.  Taking salt baths or just soaking one’s feet in a tub of warm water with a handful of sea salt is beneficial, as salt draws toxins out of the body through the skin.  Ear candling is a safe and interesting way to draw out excess ear wax and yeast build up.  Cayenne pepper is commonly used to aid the body in eliminating excess mucus which also helps to cleanse the body.  Skin brushing, which uses a natural bristle brush to gently dry brush the skin on a daily basis, stimulates blood and lymph flow and helps to eliminate toxins.

While there are many ways to cleanse the body both inside and out, these are just a few basics that I have found helpful and relatively easy to do.  Have a great spring and happy cleansing!

Girl’s Night Out

Thursday, April 17th from 4:00 – 8:00pm

Peaceful Heart is hosting a ‘preview’ jewelry event where new merchandise is on display for the first time.  This gives our premier customers an opportunity at first pick and best selection!  Our feature for the evening is a selection of stunning Larimar jewelry at clearance prices – necklaces that normally retail between $200-$300 are just $88.00, pendants and earrings are only $30!  If you want to add to your collection or are a first time Larimar buyer, this is the place to be.

Regularly priced jewelry items on display for the first time include sterling silver and semi-precious stone earrings and pendants.  All sterling silver chains are 10% off for the evening as well.

Of course it’s not a girl’s night out without a little pampering.  Lisa Resch will be offering free chair massage, hand massage or head massage for the evening.  Refreshments will also be served.

Construction is coming to Downtown Oregon – Yikes!

Downtown Oregon is scheduled to begin road construction in late May.  Roads will remain passable via one lane at all times, and businesses will remain open throughout the construction period (scheduled to end in Sept).  Parking is expected to be limited, but signs will be posted to let the public know where parking is available.  In the next newsletter, we hope to include a map that shows available parking areas in the downtown area during the construction.

The great thing about the scheduled construction is that in addition to the newly paved streets, the landscape of the downtown will get an upgrade with new lighting, wider sidewalks, decorative planters and waste receptacles, and even a few trees.  So we are very excited to see the end product even though the process may be a bit painful.

In a recent article I submitted to the Oregon Observer, I invited people to help co-create this downtown area through the power of their intention.  That whenever we drive by or through the construction area we add our intention of beauty, love, community, cooperation, peace, or whatever we want to express for the area.  We have a chance to add our positive energy and anchor that energy into the heart of the Oregon community, and I invite all who read this to take the time and add their good vibes too!

The wonderful thing about using our intention is that we don’t even have to be there to send and anchor positive energy.  We can simply close our eyes and visualize the area, build up the feeling within ourselves that we want to send – so if you want to have a sense of community, envision people and children and pets engaged in walking, talking, shopping, playing and take a few moments to feel that kind of energy.  When you have a strong sensation of that feeling, send it to the downtown area and envision that energy penetrating deep into the dirt and enveloping all the buildings until the whole area radiates with that energy.  Repeat as often as possible!!  Updates with the construction will be sent out with the regularly scheduled newsletter mailings.
